The useful answer
Choose on-page cards, system notifications, or both, check the permission needed for that option, and use the test-notification button with Chrome open and your computer awake. Cards still appear after Chrome has been idle, but DewCue can’t promise alerts when Chrome, the computer, or the network is off. Keep a separate backup for time-critical tasks.
Check which alert you selected
On-page cards appear at the top right of your page and stay until you act. System notifications use the computer's notification display. You can also choose both. Start by checking the option you selected in DewCue so you know where to look.
On-page cards use an optional permission for all sites when you enable them. Displaying the card does not read the page. If you choose system notifications, check whether your operating system allows Chrome to show alerts. The test-notification button in settings comes with a short fix guide if something doesn’t appear.
Run one small, observable test
Use a low-stakes test instead of an important deadline. Keep the browser open, leave the computer awake, and note whether the alert appears where expected.
- Create a reminder a few minutes ahead and check its saved date and time.
- Confirm the selected alert style and any requested permission.
- Check your operating system's notification and do-not-disturb settings.
- Observe the test, then mark it done in your reminder list.
Know what a successful test tells you
A successful test confirms the conditions you just checked. It does not establish delivery with Chrome closed, the computer asleep, or different operating-system settings. DewCue does not promise every alarm will fire when Chrome, the computer, or the network is off.
Use a separate backup alarm for time-critical commitments. When you return to the computer, the “While you were away” summary shows anything you missed; also review Today and Overdue. If chimes are quiet, check the chime switch, volume, and quiet hours.
