The useful answer
Check synced reminders and local information separately before changing computers. Reminders, quiet hours, and the notification choice use Chrome sync; other DewCue records stay on the original computer, so download a backup and import it on the new one. Keep the old installation available until you have verified everything.
Identify where each part of your setup lives
Chrome sync is not a complete backup of DewCue. Use the same intended Chrome profile with sync enabled, then verify the synced records on the new computer. A reminder appearing there does not establish that your local notes or captured page information have moved.
| Information | Where it is kept | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Reminders, quiet hours, and notification choice | Chrome sync | Check the intended Chrome profile, sync settings, and the records on the new computer. |
| Buckets, update logs, local notes, timer data, wellbeing nudges, birthdays, milestones, themes, follow-up preferences, and completed history | Local storage on this computer | Review the original installation and preserve the information you need. |
| Deliberately captured page title, address, and selected text | The computer where you captured it | Do not assume the saved page copy transfers with reminder sync. |
| Premium email address and licence key | DewCue’s licence server | This record supports paid access; it does not contain your reminders or page content. |
Use DewCue’s backups
DewCue makes an automatic backup every day. You can also download a backup file at any time, import it on another computer, or export your reminders to CSV. The backup file belongs to you and is not uploaded by DewCue.
After importing, check your reminders and local information on the new computer before removing anything from the old one. Ask support if something looks different.
Verify the new computer while the old one is available
Move in a sequence that leaves you able to compare the two installations. Keep a separate record of important dates or notes if their transfer has not been confirmed.
- Review the reminders and local information on the original computer.
- Check the intended Chrome profile and sync settings on the new computer.
- Verify the reminders and synced settings that appear there.
- Download a backup on the original computer and import it on the new one.
- Check Premium activation separately and confirm your licence’s device allowance.
Distinguish removing Premium from uninstalling
Removing Premium from a computer inside DewCue unbinds that computer without deleting its reminders. Uninstalling the extension removes the local copy of your data. Those actions have different consequences.
Chrome sync may still hold reminders on your Google account until Chrome removes them, but you should not treat that as guaranteed recovery after uninstalling. A restored Premium licence also does not restore personal content: the licence server does not store it.
